Join us as we take you on a tour of our home and native land. You will have the opportunity to learn about the Toronto Zoo's wood bison reproductive studies that help their wild counterparts and participate in an un-BEAR-ably unique experience featuring Samson and Shintay, our resident grizzlies! The group will get to choose and fill various enrichment items for the bears with their favourite foods. You will then get to watch the bears enjoy their breakfast, that you helped prepare, and play with their enrichment from an exclusive behind the scenes area.

Experience an African safari without leaving the City on this trek behind the scenes at our eland, and zebra habitats. You will be guided through the Savanna to an exclusive behind-the-scenes barn to learn about how the keepers care for our zebras and eland. Guests will get to feed our eland some snacks and then be guided to an exclusive area to visit our World Guinness Record holder, the watusi, and give them some snacks too!

  *Guests will be joining a public tour

  *Our encounters are subject to change, based on the animals’ health, safety, and behavioral needs

  *Due to precautions associated with the COVID19 pandemic, some experiences may limit and/or exclude touching or feeding by guests. Please check tour description for further details.

  *30-45-minute walking tour

  *Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult and will not be permitted on the tour unaccompanied

  *Wheelchair and stroller access and limited – BTS includes stairs

  *Service Animals are prohibited in Behind the Scenes areas. 

  *Accessibility: Standard size, 28” non-motorized wheelchairs can fit at most Behind the Scene locations

  *Registration
  Behind the Scenes Adventures (BTSA) are guided walking tours. Motorized transportation is not available. Parking is not included with BTSA purchases.

  *Weather Conditions
  BTS Adventures are rain or shine unless cancelled by the zoo due to guest safety or animal care issues.

  *Cancellations
  There are no refunds or exchanges on Behind the Scenes Adventure tickets. If a tour is cancelled by the Toronto Zoo due to animal care issues or other safety concerns, a similar tour of another area will be provided.

  *Meeting Location:
  The BTS Meeting location for this adventure is: Entrance to Eurasia- Eurasia Arch

  You are not to enter the Zoo or participate in a Wild Encounter at the Toronto Zoo if:

  • You’re ill or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. These include: fever, cough, shortness of breath, runny nose, sore throat and/or others listed here: https://covid-19.ontario.ca
  • You’ve been exposed to someone who has been diagnosed with or has symptoms of COVID-19
  • Your or someone in your household has traveled internationally in the past 14 days

  You will be asked to follow the Public Health Guidelines on the Toronto Zoo grounds:

  • Practice physical distancing: keep 6ft. between your group and others
  • Wash your hands often for at least 20 seconds
